It was such a pleasure to share in capturing the joy of Jenn & Joe’s wedding day celebrations.
They are without a doubt two of the nicest people, and it’s not a mystery why! They have a Great group of family and friends. I may be biased on that determination, (they both grew up in the Upper Valley, which holds a special place in my heart, since I grew up here too:), but it was so so nice to photograph another local wedding where I recognized quite a few faces!
Jenn’s day started out in Quechee, VT, at their Gorgeous historic home on Main Street. From there, we headed to St Denis Catholic Church in Hanover, NH, and after a beautiful ceremony, and some time in the sunshine greeting their guests, Jenn & Joe left the church in a 1956 Rolls Bentley (Grace Limo) and headed to their equally beautiful reception at the Quechee Inn at Marshland Farm.

“C’mon, dehg.” I hear as they make their way out across the drive, and up a hill into the forest…
From the beautiful craftsmanship and artistry that they both bring to the world in careers, to the way in which they chose to spend their free time and their days, Sarah and Stuart are one of those couples that I almost can’t believe I was lucky enough to find.
She’s a stunning little firecracker Long Island native, and he’s a Vermont-born and raised master welder, builder, woodsman, snowboarding adventurer! (needing few words to display a heart of gold:) Being given the honor of getting to know these lovebirds was an inspiration.
We walk through the woods and out into a clearing that rolls down to a fairytale worthy frozen pond. Flanked by trees so tall they’ve surely seen stories of many generations, it set the scene for Stuart’s next idea of fun: boot-skating Sarah around in Notebook-worthy fashion;)
It was both a visual and emotional oasis for me, their slice of heaven in these green mountains (which is why I spent hours upon hours hearing more about their story together in this magical place).
One of the best things I can do for my photo clients is take the time to get to know them — We love the photos with meaning, and authenticity. They resonate, and they have soul. When getting to know them also turns into seeing yourself, your own values (as well as parting phrases like “I feel like I’ve known you my whole life!”) you know something is going right. Thank you Sarah and Stuart, for putting your trust and story in my camera-laden hands! I wouldn’t be able to continue this pursuit and passion without you.
“He’s taken me with him before,” she says, speaking of his early morning turkey hunts. “It’s very dark, peaceful… you can’t see anything because it’s so dark, but that tunes you into all your other senses. It’s a wonderful experience, you wake up with nature, and the sun…”

Get ready!!
Fourth of July weekend: Holy Cross + Dartmouth + Berkeley + the beach…
Caroline and Michael’s wedding was chock-full of Pin-worthy details, an elegant guest list, and stunning estate setting (complete with sweeping Grand Allée landscape and 360 hilltop views of Boston’s north shore at Ipswich’s Crane Beach). But beyond the undeniable glamour and timeless elegance of their affair, the beauty in Caroline & Michael’s union far surpassed the fodder and fancy of wedding planning blog post perfection. Caroline and Michael are a grounded couple who know about love, commitment, and navigating life in conscientious and heartfelt selfless ways. It takes a lot to top the visual masterpiece their outdoor ceremony afforded, but its beautiful themes – “community, gratitude, presence, equality, adventure” – and their custom vows, did just that.
It was an honor to capture this day on film, and I am forever grateful for the complete trust these two put in me to see, to create visual time capsules, and to be present in these moments. Enjoy visiting/revisiting this AMAZING wedding day:

Sarah & Evan got married at the Basin Harbor Club, with ceremony, dinner, and reception set beautifully against the backdrop of Lake Champlain in Vergennes, VT! Bridal party members spent time together getting ready with the bride and groom, bridesmaids and bride at Harbor Homestead:
Sarah had beautiful Stuart Weitzman wedding wedges – perfect for an outdoor wedding on the lawn, hills, and dock!
Evan and his groomsmen met across the way at Sundial, a cottage with water views of gorgeous Lake Champlain. We came to discover later in the day that he was a rather good dancer, which should’ve come as no surprise – as he helped a good number of his party tie an expertly crafted Beau Tie, too!

So excited to have recently re-defined the Jennifer McKenna Photography brand online experience! Here in this new site, you will now be able to find projects, portfolios, blog posts, and other photography service & business information all in one place. If you’ve read or followed my blog in the past, you’ll be the first to note that getting around to posting isn’t my… forté. But with this new all-in-one space that I’ve finally had the chance to create, I’m hoping to bring about a little more buzz =) I’d love to keep you in the loop about current and past shoots, as well as add a lot of content to both the site and blog section, to bring you more info and more inspiration.

I can’t express in words the amount of excitement I had about shooting up in a snowy New England landscape earlier this month. It was an engagement session for the first couple to have booked a 2013 wedding with me! Libby and Tony are a wildly photogenic couple, but more than anything they’re just really great, down to earth and kind people. So it was wonderful to capture their spirits as we explored the grounds of St. Gauden’s. I think it’s easy to see that these two get along – and I couldn’t have had a better time shooting with them, so THANKS again you two!!

Where to start… when I found out about the hidden gem that is the Bailey Arboretum (from the bride!) I knew this was going to be a gorgeous affair. Not to mention, it was easy to see that this couple had a lot of love to share, and with their priorities set on celebrating that, it was easy for me to capture their day. From bustling pre-ceremony preparation, to a heartfelt ceremony, to family time on the grounds, and some out of this world dancing, this day was chock full of inspiration for me to share with you. Congratulations to Jackie & John – not only is your love for one another quite evident and wonderful, but you have a beautiful group of family and friends to go along with it! Cheers to that.
First Dance!
There’s plenty more of this story to be told… check back soon for more images!
Castle in the Clouds | a Michael Tallman Wedding

So January 2012 has come and gone – note to self: don’t make declarations of a commitment to your blog and then fail to follow through!
To be fair, January proved to be unpredictably busy (packed with client web projects and a move) and February flew by while I tied up unfinished work and took care of administrative duties. One of which, I am happy to report, is a new blog/website/online service facelift – keep an eye out for that! But I can’t let all that keep me from sharing some of the beauty I’ve witnessed this past year. Today I’d love to start playing catch up by highlighting my growth into the wonderful world of wedding photography…
I’m lucky enough to be able to share with you a select set of images that I took shooting for Michael Tallman back in September. The beauty of New England in the fall certainly has no bounds, in my book. Add a group of family and friends brought together by a couple’s love and commitment to one another – magical evening.
This breathtaking wedding location is appropriately titled, “Castle in the Clouds”
