To any new visitors, (or those checking back in to see how all is going!), you may notice that I haven’t been blogging at all this season!
I Have, however, been shooting (a Lot),
meeting wonderful people (industry and client side alike),
and providing the best service to clients that I can with my time:)
I may start blogging again during or shortly after the holidays, but it takes a backseat to other initiatives and tasks.
So whether you’re new or I know you well, Thank you for stopping by! I urge you to visit my social media pages for most relevant work and interaction, or to “stop by” by emailing or a call! I’d love to meet you and work with you, or to reconnect.
Hooray for the great work and sunshine-filled summer I’ve had (pouring a lot of heart and time into my business and you!) and Hooray for a gorgeous New England fall…
This October-November I will be taking on a limited number of family and kids portrait sessions (holiday cards and gifts!) and if you’d like to get in on the fun, please be in touch!

Baby girl W is here and already one week old!
I was hoping this blog post would be Just the thing to invite her out into the world (after she missed her due date and then some!). Alas, as has been the case with my blogging opportunities, the post lay dormant as another pesky draft floating unseen on the waves of “busy season” – which was extra eventful for me this year!
Thanks to quite a few incredible new clients, colleagues, and networks, I’m encouraged to say that I’m excited to keep growing this business: from my nomadic New England existence, to a new home base in my beautiful home state of Vermont, here we go!
The photos we capture (and the experience that invariably comes with them) are why the long, never off-duty, mind constantly ticking, hours of planning, and prep, and post-production, are worth it to me… I get to share my passion for freezing moments and light; I get to share time, fun, and thoughts, with people who begin to tell me their story; I get to learn, and connect, and inspire, and be inspired. If there’s one thing I’m certain of it’s that human connection matters. I hope the photos I take help bring that to life.
Kristin & Matt:
These two have a quiet, (peaceful) love for one another… it’s so true, and so present, however, that it shouts at you from just about every one of these photos. I have been dying to share the complete set, so without further ado!

Three cheers for spring! This new baby came along to grace us with her presence at a lovely time of year… I spent a sunny Friday morning with tiny Mila and her family earlier this month and it was a treat! Such a sweet home they have built together.

So excited to have recently re-defined the Jennifer McKenna Photography brand online experience! Here in this new site, you will now be able to find projects, portfolios, blog posts, and other photography service & business information all in one place. If you’ve read or followed my blog in the past, you’ll be the first to note that getting around to posting isn’t my… forté. But with this new all-in-one space that I’ve finally had the chance to create, I’m hoping to bring about a little more buzz =) I’d love to keep you in the loop about current and past shoots, as well as add a lot of content to both the site and blog section, to bring you more info and more inspiration.

It is high time I sneak in a rare post! I’ve been meaning to blog about the amazing time I’ve had so far working for the Dolphin Organics™ team… Creating visual pieces to accompany their brilliant (and benevolent) brand of baby care products has been really special. Not only are these shampoos, bubble baths, and conditioners safe on the most sensitive of skins, but they also come with a wealth of knowledge-nuggets that we as health-conscious consumers will value among the highest of priorities for ourselves and our families. How often is it that we read the labels (or even can, upon attempting) of the products we’re using in our lives… We care about the quality of our air and the safety of our food, so why not be savvy too about the products we’re using on our skin! Dolphin Organics makes this all too easy with their “truth in labeling” mission to educate, but also simplify the process, by providing the clearest of labels and messages. You can check out the bottle in my images below and see for yourself.
This commercial work was a wonderful fit – happy, real, and personality inspired. How about those genuine smiles and gorgeous faces! Cheers to happy and healthy children, and a whole lot of giggles and fun…

Both of Aline’s daughters were unable to see her this mother’s day. While one makes her way through a maze of new faces and places – the other through text after text on Organic Chemistry in preparation for one of many final exams – Aline finds time to enjoy the beauty of her hill top home, where everything passes by a little more slowly.
Her eldest wears little pieces of mom, a crocheted wrap and a string of freshwater pearls – she’s on her way to a mother’s day brunch. She calls her mom, and smiles at the light in her voice. Aline sounds happy – as she always does over the phone – and it’s contagious. “Say hi to Chris’ family!” And you know that even though her girls are hundreds of miles away her wishes are sincere.
For the thens, the nows, and everything to come, we are forever grateful for and shaped by your love. We live every moment as we do because of you. There will never be one perfect way to express how we feel about this gift, but I think that’s alright. There are many:

Funny the time we spend time post processing our images to get them to look as they do in these old family photos…
(the new irrelevance of patience and passage of time to create these dear weathered works abounds – and the touch of a couple buttons yields a quite decent equivalent… Yes, there’s an app for that)
Anyhow, my fingers fly as I type out this post because I am SO EXCITED to show you these old family photos that I’VE NEVER SEEN BEFORE. Yes! My mother just sent them my way, while she continues the huge undertaking of archiving all the negatives and prints she has accumulated throughout our lives.
I won’t bother to tell you the number of files she’s scanned in so far, as it may sicken those who aren’t as photo obsessed as our family clearly is, but it’s large!
I LOVE going through these photos. Just like old possessions, photos are my window to a past that I want to see, share, and remember. I DO think that my ever present interest in photography growing up had a lot to do with the joy I got from looking at the moments we have captured on film.
I may have lost you by now, but if not, my other point is this: I’ll be taking on the project of restoring this old photo of me da when he was just a wee lad, and I’m looking forward to posting the before and after when it’s complete 🙂
